These views of a Kelly Duplex Model 4808
Ribbon Mixer illustrate the heavy-duty T304 stainless steel construction
designed for rapid mixing of batched compounds while providing for quick
and convenient cleaning of the mixing vessel between batches. All interior
welding is continuous and ground smooth, and all surfaces are finished and
blasted. The top cover features hinged ingredient additive panels within
larger hinged panels which open to provide full access to the inside of
the vessel for cleaning. The larger top cover panels are counterweighted
to provide effortless opening, closing and positioning as required by
process operations. Nominal batching capacity of the Model 4808 Ribbon
Mixer is 60 to 90 cubic feet of various compounds. A 30 HP drive operating
at 35 RPM provides 54,000 inch pounds of torque to the ribbon assembly,
delivered through a T2205 high strength alloy stainless steel drive shaft.
Power is transferred from the motor to the drive shaft through a
transfluid hydrokinetic transmission which provides for a machine
"soft start" and cushions sudden machine overloads.
The above view of a Kelly Duplex Model 4808SSR mixing
ribbon illustrates the heavy-duty stainless steel triple ribbon
construction designed for rapid mixing of batched compounds. The assembly
is 8 feet long and 4 feet in diameter with a center discharge pattern. It
is constructed from 6-5/8" heavy wall tubing, 1-3/4" diameter
arms and a 4" diameter T2205 high strength alloy stainless steel
drive shaft. The double helix outer ribbon is fabricated from 5/8"
thick T304 stainless steel plate. The single inner ribbon is of 1/2"
stainless construction. The high strength stainless arms are installed to
pass through the core tubing for added strength and life, and are
massively reinforced at the ends. All welding is continuous and ground
smooth, and all surfaces are finished and blasted. Nominal batching
capacity of the Model 4808 Ribbon Mixer is 60 to 90 cubic feet of various
compounds.

gear reducer mixer drive with a transfluid hydrokinetic coupling providing
a "soft start" and overload cushion to the mixing assembly
The hinged and counterweighted mixer top cover features
hinged ingredient additive panels within larger full open panels. The
combination design provides for convenient process operation and quick
access for cleaning. The internal top cover protective grates are also
removable for cleaning. Both the hinged panels and the removable grates
are interlocked with protective interlocking limit switches.
Full open, counterweighted top cover provides convenient
access for cleaning the mixing vessel between batches. Top cover panels
and grates are interlocked with protective interlocking limit switches so
that the mixer drive cannot operate unless the panels are closed and
latched and the grates are secured in their proper place.
The mixer discharge valve is a packed and sealed knife
gate with an extension spout that features a protective grate removable
for cleaning and interlocked for operator protection.
